LOCATED IN SOUTHWEST MICHIGAN

River Country Tourism Bureau serves
St. Joseph County and surrounding
areas in Southwest Michigan.

Located two and a half hours from Detroit, Chicago and close to other midwestern cities, come and experience the hidden gem of southern Michigan – fine dining, outdoor pursuits, explore our cities and enjoy our one-of-a-kind lodging facilities.

FROM CHICAGO...

Traveling from Chicago, take the I-80/90 Toll Road and exit onto Middlebury (US 131 North) or Exit 121 Sturgis (M 66 North).

FROM DETROIT...

From Detroit, take I-94 West to M-66 South (exit 98A in Battle Creek.)  Follow M-66 South to the northeast corner of St. Joseph County.  M-66 will take you directly to Sturgis, or you can pick up M-60 West to Mendon and Three Rivers, or M-86 West to Centreville and Three Rivers.

A second option brings you to the city of Three Rivers on the Northwestern border of the County.  Take I-94 West to US 131 South (in Kalamazoo.)  This is a direct route to River Country!

A third option takes you along US 12, the “Old Salk Trail,” an ancient Native American trail - also used by the settlers to travel between Detroit and Chicago.  Take I-94 West to I-69 South and proceed to US 12 West (in Coldwater).  This route is dotted with historic towns and has many unique antique shops and markets. The city of Sturgis is the first to greet you as you enter River Country.

FROM THE NORTH...

From the North, take US 131 South, which brings you to the historic town of Three Rivers.

FROM THE SOUTH...

From the South, connecting with the I-80/90 Toll Road is the fastest route, once you make your way to the northernmost part of Indiana.  Exit onto Middlebury (US 131 North) or Exit 121 Howe-Lagrange (Sturgis M 66 North).
